In Old Testament times, the Jewish people had a slowly growing awareness that God was someday going to create a new earth where God would be King and where righteousness and peace would reign. But they were unprepared for Jesus’ resurrection, where Jesus came back to life on this present earth with a new-creation body. What does the reality of the resurrection mean for us? Because of the resurrection, the Holy Spirit’s creative power has come to start making new creation within us. We get to live in the reality of the new creation now as we walk in the Spirit, while being changed and made ready to become part of the final fulfillment, the new heavens and earth.
